Liverpool’s loan policy hasn’t worked out a whole lot this season. The club has already made six recalls in January alone. However, it’s not been all doom and gloom.

One loanee has been thriving for several years now, and this season he is catching the eye in the Bundesliga – one of Europe’s best leagues.

That youngster is of course Sepp van den Berg, who joined Jurgen Klopp’s former side, Mainz on loan this season. While, Mainz have struggled in the Bundesliga so far this season – Van den Berg has thrived – putting in some solid performances.

Sepp van den Berg is one of the fastest in the Bundesliga

As well as impressing with his defensive stats, and his aerial ability – Sepp van den Berg has also stood-out for his speed.

Overall as per the Bundesliga’s official website Van den Berg ranks in the top 25 players for top-speed recorded this season at 34.78km/h. And when you compare him against just centre-back, the Liverpool loanee ranks in the top five in fourth spot – as Jack Lusby has pointed out.

Those are really impressive stats from the 22-year-old. Speed is so important for Liverpool centre-backs with the high-line Jurgen Klopp deploys. The fact that Van den Berg ranks so high among his positional peers definitely bodes well for his future at Liverpool.
