Ligue 1 insiders reportedly think Leny Yoro could be sold this year for a record transfer fee for a defender, with Liverpool eyeing the youngster.

The 18-year-old centre-back has been one of the revelations of the season in France, with Yoro establishing himself as a key player for LOSC Lille and a future international with Les Bleus.

And Yoro’s performances have caught the eye of some of the biggest clubs in Europe, with Liverpool one of the reported sides keeping tabs on the teenage defender.

Now, according to Telefoot, insiders believe that Yoro could be sold this year for a record-breaking fee for a defender, a title currently held by Manchester City and their 2017 move for Benjamin Mendy.

Reportedly valued as highly as £78m, Lille’s demands for Yoro are more than justified given how good the youngster has been this season for the French giants.

However, given how much Lille want for the centre-back, it seems unlikely that Liverpool will meet Yoro’s valuation even if the Reds were to win the Premier League this season.

Given how exciting a prospect Yoro is and how young the defender is, it makes complete sense why Lille are now eyeing a record-breaking sale for the French youth international.

Yet for Liverpool, spending close to £80m on a defender who has just one full season of professional football under his belt seems like a reckless move for the Reds.

As we know, the Anfield side are one of the smartest operators when it comes to making signings, with Liverpool always looking for value in the market.

And whilst Yoro would be quite a long-term addition, Lille’s demands would make a transfer for Liverpool unrealistic, even if the Reds do have the funds to spare this summer.
