Liverpool have been impressed by the progress made by Lille youngster Leny Yoro.

Having broken into the first-team last season, centre-back Yoro is now a fixture in the Lille XI. Nine games into the Ligue 1 season, the 17-year-old has started seven times.

This has inevitably led to chatter that Yoro could be one his way out of Les Dogues in the near future. And according to 90min, that could well be the case.

They claim that Chelsea are currently the most interested in the youngster’s development. The Blues scouts’ have reportedly been ‘thoroughly impressed’ by what they’ve seen from Yoro.

However, Liverpool are also lurking. The Reds are said to be ‘aware’ of the France U21 international, having taken note of his emergence last year.

Despite that, it’s claimed that Liverpool are yet to take their interest in Yoro any further than mere tracking.

Liverpool keeping tabs on Yoro

Lille are famed for having one of the best academies in Europe, as well as developing top youth products from elsewhere.

But even amongst that, Yoro is already standing out.

Having actually snuck into the first-team at the end of the 2021/22 season, the teenager become Lille’s second-youngest debutant ever aged just 16.

In doing so, Yoro broke the record of a certain Eden Hazard, who is perhaps the most fabled of all the Flanders’ club’s graduates.

As a result, you can easily see why Liverpool would be interested in him.

With the Reds on the lookout for their next generation of centre-backs, they’ve been scouring the globe for any who may fit the bill.

At 17, Yoro is surely still a little young for that. But if he’s already this good now, then just imagine what he could become. His potential really is scary.

The presence of Chelsea here could be an issue, though. The Blues are famously trigger-happy under Todd Boehly and have been collecting young talents for fun over the past year.

But if Yoro has any sense he’d avoid the circus at Stamford Bridge. Liverpool is a better bet. Keep your eyes on this one, Reds.
