With Mohamed Salah away at the African Cup of Nations, Jurgen Klopp doesn’t have a lot of options in terms of who he could select in the right-wing role while the Egyptian is absent.
Last night, Klopp used Harvey Elliott in the role, but the youngster’s impact was minimal in the role and he may be a lot better suited to playing as an advanced midfielder rather than as an out-and-out winger.
Against, Arsenal, Luis Diaz was used in the position for the last half an hour of the game, and he was really lively causing a lot of problems to the opposition’s defence. The Colombian even got himself a goal.
Another option who is yet to play since Salah departed to the African Cup of Nations is Dominik Szoboszlai, who was often used as a right-winger at RB Leipzig last season.

Recently, Dominik Szoboszlai has been speaking to Hungarian national outlet, Nemzeti Sport. He was asked about the possibility of him potentially replacing Salah on the right-wing this month, and this was his response.
“If the question is whether I will play on the wing, my answer is that this possibility is not excluded either, and I will play where I am needed. We haven’t talked yet about how my task might change in Mohamed Salah’s absence, and for now the important thing is that I can play as soon as possible.”
Szoboszlai is still injured at the moment for Liverpool, but he is expected to be back soon and could even feature in the Reds’ next game.
It seems like based on his comments that he would be open to the idea of being used on the wing. Whether this idea also appeals to Jurgen Klopp remains to be seen.
