Liverpool’s Dominik Szoboszlai missed the Reds’ victory over Fulham on Wednesday night due to the muscle injury he sustained against Fulham during Liverpool’s first game of 2024.

Earlier this week, he returned to his homeland to receive the Hungarian Male Sports Person of the Year award for his achievements in 2023.

And after attending the ceremony and returning to Liverpool, he gave an interview to Nemzeti Sport, where he revealed just when he might be back in action for Jurgen Klopp’s side. Fortunately, it could be good news for supporters.

Dominik Szoboszlai issues injury update

Szoboszlai was interviewed about his achievements in 2023, however, Nemzeti Sport also asked him to give an update about his current injury status.

“Yes, I am still running without a ball, but soon I can carefully try training with a ball, I’m getting better,” Szoboszlai said.

He was then asked about which game he might be available for Liverpool again, with the reporter questioning whether he could play against Bournemouth next weekend, and the Hungarian did not rule out the possibility.

“Yes, it’s possible, but we don’t want to rush anything. I’d rather miss one more match, if that’s what it takes, so that I don’t injure the previous strain and can play continuously.”

It’s good that Liverpool are being cautious. The Reds don’t want to rush Szoboszlai back too early and risk aggravating his injury.

However, the sooner he returns, the bigger boost it is for Liverpool. With Trent Alexander-Arnold and Mohamed Salah both unavailable – Liverpool desperately need his creativity to give Klopp’s men more ammunition in attack.
