Even though things didn’t start out the way Liverpool wanted to against Fulham, in the end, there were some really positive moments for the Reds.
And at the end of the day, the result is all that matters. Liverpool now have a lead to take into the second-leg away from home, and have put themselves one step closer to appearing at Wembley in the final.
Jurgen Klopp was understandably pleased by the result after the game. There were plenty to like for the Liverpool boss.
And he was full of praise for one Liverpool player in particular, who really impressed him on the night.

What Jurgen Klopp said about Darwin Nunez
Speaking after the game, Klopp revealed he was really impressed by Darwin Nunez in particular. The Uruguayan came on and changed the game with two quick assists, and the Liverpool boss was rightfully pleased by his impact.
Although Klopp admitted, he might just be the unluckiest player.
“I don’t know how to explain the Darwin [Nunez] situation. I’m so happy about our crowd and how they take it; I am so happy about Darwin’s reaction and how he takes it, but you cannot be more unlucky than he was in this finishing situation. It is just not possible,” Klopp told Sky Sports
He then went onto praise the Liverpool number nine even further.
“He does absolutely everything right and then the ball is not in. Then he still sets up the other goal. I think that’s really special to do that again. He did it for Mo [Salah] against West Ham, if I am right, and today for Cody. Super-special. The impact they had was obviously really big, but before that we found our feet already.”
Nunez is special, and his creativity is going under the radar. As unlucky he has been with his finishing, he has definitely made up for it with his new found creative streak.
