Liverpool have been extensive users of the loan system over the years, and the upcoming January window will likely see some temporary departures.

Qualification in the UEFA Europa League and the closing stages of the League Cup mean that opportunities will be few and far between for some of Liverpool’s younger players.

And as a result, loans could be on the table for a number of academy stars, with Liverpool hopeful that a six-month spell away from Anfield can help with their development.

Here are three Liverpool players who could benefit the most from a loan spell in 2024.

Lauded by Jurgen Klopp as ‘exceptional’, the hype around Kaide Gordon is still pretty real even having spent the best part of 18 months out on the treatment table.

Yet with the winger now back and even featuring for the Reds this season in the Europa League, the January window should be when Gordon departs Liverpool on loan.

With reports already suggesting that Birmingham City are interesting in signing Gordon, an ideal move could already be in the making for the teenager, who could flourish under Wayne Rooney.

Lewis Koumas

Liverpool have impressed at academy level this season, and Lewis Koumas has arguably been the breakout name for the Reds having been promoted to the U-21s aged just 18.

A Wales youth international with an eye for goal, Koumas has proven this season he could benefit from a loan spell into the professional career after his rapid rise this campaign.

And January could be the perfect time to loan out the teenager, with a League Two or even League One move ideal for Koumas.

Bobby Clark

Named on the Liverpool bench against Arsenal earlier this year, it’s safe to say that Liverpool are big fans of Bobby Clark and what the midfielder represents.

A silky operator with an eye for goal, Clark has the potential to break into Liverpool’s senior plans next season if his development continues on its current pace.

Yet a loan move could, be perfect for Clark, who is ready for a taste of professional football in 2024, with Liverpool likely to approve such a move.
