Pep Lijnders has detailed that Ryan Gravenberch’s injury isn’t as bad as first feared after the Liverpool midfielder was forced off against Manchester United.

The Dutch international looked in quite some discomfort on the weekend as Gravenberch was one of the first players Jurgen Klopp brought off in the Premier League clash on Sunday.

Signed for £34m in the summer, Gravenberch has emerged as an exciting talent for the Reds and a player who could feature heavily for Liverpool in the years to come.

And speaking to the press, assistant coach Lijnders confirmed that Gravenberch’s injury isn’t bad as first feared, with the midfielder only suffering from fatigue.

Lijnders said when asked about Gravenberch’s injury: “If a player is fatigued there is something, there’s no muscle tear nothing in the muscle but it’s fatigued.

“So we have to be careful, he can train today and we have to judge it, he has to judge it himself. I can’t see why he would not be available for the next weeks, let’s see for tomorrow.”

With the likes of Alexis Mac Allister and Thiago Alcantara already out through injury, losing another midfielder in Gravenberch would have been a serious blow for Liverpool.

However, the Dutch youngster is now seemingly fit enough to feature in Liverpool’s upcoming games against West Ham and Arsenal in the League Cup and Premier League respectively.

Indeed, Gravenberch has shown that he could become quite a player for Liverpool if he can stay fit enough and bring his body up to pace with the speed of the Premier League.

And minutes over the festive period will help with that in a big way, with Gravenberch having the ability to make a real difference for Liverpool in the coming weeks.
