Dion Dublin has said that Jurgen Klopp got Trent Alexander-Arnold’s role correct for Liverpool today against Manchester United.

The 25-year-old defender was again deployed in an inverted fullback role as Alexander-Arnold caused the Red Devils numerous problems down the middle.

Whilst Liverpool were unable to come away with a win, the England international was impressive on the day, with Alexander-Arnold enjoying one of his most composed performances yet in the role.

And speaking on BBC Five Live’s coverage of the game, Dublin was full of praise for how Alexander-Arnold conducted himself in one of English football’s biggest games.

Indeed, the defender was one of the few Liverpool players to show up tonight, and Alexander-Arnold was rightly praised for how he performed against United.

Dublin said: “I think Klopp has realised that Trent is the man that’s going to open the door in the midfield area. He just roams as in there and makes things happen. He’s doing everything at the moment.”

Few fans would have predicted Liverpool to draw with United today, let alone not even score against Erik Ten Hag’s out-of-form side.

Yet of the few players who were impressive today, Alexander-Arnold can put himself in this allusive category, with the defender a creative spark for the Reds.

A central position is slowly becoming Alexander-Arnold’s main position for Liverpool having now taken the hybrid role to new levels in recent weeks under Klopp.
