Liverpool have reportedly added Joao Palhinha to their January transfer shortlist, with the Fulham midfielder once again attracting interest.

The Portuguese international was wanted by the Reds in the summer, though it was Bayern Munich who came the closest to signing the £90m-rated Fulham star.

Despite that deal not coming through, interest has remained in Palhinha, and all signs currently point to the former Sporting Lisbon star leaving Craven Cottage for good in the January window.

And according to journalist Rudy Galetti, Palhinha has been added to Liverpool’s shortlist for the upcoming market next month, with Jurgen Klopp eager to sign a midfielder.

Just like last season, Palhinha has been sensational in the Premier League under Marco Silva, with Fulham the in-form team in the division at the time of writing.

And for Liverpool, Palhinha could be an interesting signing, especially with the Reds looking to sign a defensive-minded midfielder in the January market.

For what Liverpool need in a midfield signing this January, few players out there are as perfect as Palhinha, who is exactly what the Reds are looking for.

However, one major roadblock in getting a deal done will be Fulham’s demands, which as previously mentioned have been reported as high as £90m.

Indeed, Palhinha himself could drive the price down if he again agitates for a move in the January window, though this could only do so much for Liverpool.

As a result, the Reds will have to be cautious with how they handle this potential deal, with Palhinha a player who might not be worth the financial investment in January.
