Liverpool will reportedly have to pay as much as £34m if they want to sign Juventus wonderkid Kenan Yildiz.

The Turkish international has emerged as a target for the Reds in recent weeks, with Arsenal also keeping tabs on Yildiz heading into the January transfer window.

And according to CalcioMercato, Juventus will be open to selling 18-year-old striker for as much as €40m (£34m), with the Old Lady keen to offload some players to bring in some much-needed finances.

Likened to Cristiano Ronaldo by Turkish coach Soykan Baskar, Yildiz is one of the most exciting talents in all of Europe and a potential superstar in the making.

However, with Juventus now naming their price for Yildiz, Liverpool could be tempted to move away from the Turkish international given how much the Serie A giants now want for the Turkish international.

Indeed, with Liverpool in the market for a defender and a midfielder in January, blowing away a good amount of their budget on a teenage attacker would be viewed by many as a poor use of resources.

Yildiz is clearly an outstanding talent who will go far in the European game wherever the young attacker ends up if he does in fact leave Juventus in 2024.

Yet for Liverpool, there’s no real reason to sign Yildiz in January given the other positions the Reds have to improve on in the winter transfer window.

As previously stated, a centre-back is needed after the injury of Joel Matip, whilst another midfielder would also be helpful for Liverpool as they look to mount a serious Premier League title challenge.

And signing Yildiz, whilst a good option for the future, will do little to help Liverpool in this quest, with a defender and midfielder more important for Jurgen Klopp’s side heading into January.
