Lars Tjaernas was full of praise for Alisson Becker as the Liverpool keeper denied Joachim Andersen from equalising for Crystal Palace yesterday.

The Brazilian international was back between the sticks for the Reds having missed the last two Premier League games due to a hamstring problem.

Having already conceded from the spot, Alisson provided a moment of magic deep into stoppage time as the 31-year-old keeper brilliantly saved an Andersen header to stop Palace from making the score 2-2.

Lauded by Jamie Carragher, it was a world-class moment from Alisson, and Viaplay pundit Tjaernas was also extremely impressed with what he saw from the Liverpool keeper.

The former Norway coach audibly gasped when Alisson made the save to deny Andersen, with the moment as big as they come in Liverpool’s season so far.

Tjaernas said: “It’s a masterclass in goalkeeping distilled into a few seconds. Crystal Palace did everything right there, but Alisson moves at lightning speed to deny Andersen.”

Whilst Harvey Elliott stole the headlines with his 92nd-minute winner, Alisson should be lauded as the real hero for Liverpool against Palace.

The former AS Roma star came up clutch at the right moment for the Reds, with Alisson’s late save on Andersen saving Liverpool two massive points in the Premier League title race.

With the Anfield side now top of the table at the time of writing, Alisson’s save might have just put Liverpool in the driving seat for the title heading into 2024.

And for goalkeeping experts, the save really was an art of the highest form, with Alisson showing why he is one of the best in the world in his position.
