£166m superstar loves watching Liverpool under Jurgen Klopp, Reds now exploring deal to sign him

Ever since his arrival at Anfield in 2015, Jurgen Klopp has turned Liverpool into one of the most watchable teams on the planet.

Whether it was the gegenpressing of his early iteration, the steady control of his title-winners, or the counter-attacking of the new Liverpool 2.0, the Reds are a hot ticket.

And according to the Daily Record, Liverpool have had one, superstar supporter of recent years.

They claim that none other than PSG superstar Kylian Mbappe has been an ‘admirer’ of the Reds under Klopp for ‘several years.’

Perhaps as a result of this, Liverpool are reportedly now ‘exploring the financial and sporting parameters’ of bringing Mbappe to Anfield next summer.

As it stands, the Frenchman will be out of contract and free to leave PSG for nothing at the end of the season. Although the French champions are said to be ‘relaxed’ about the situation, Mbappe is reportedly yet to make a decision on his future. Arsenal are claimed to join Liverpool in their interest, although it’s the Reds who have apparently caught Kylian’s eye.

Mbappe enjoying Liverpool show

By now, it should be pretty common knowledge that Mbappe has a leaning towards Liverpool.

The World Cup winner has previously spoken of his Mother’s love for the Reds and has also openly discussed previous transfer talks with them. There is clearly something there.

Whether or not that’s enough to lead to Mbappe to pursuing a move to Anfield remains to be seen.

Currently, it’s difficult to see how bringing the France international in makes sense for Liverpool on the pitch.

Clearly, Mbappe is one of the very best players on the planet, that’s not in doubt. Still yet to turn 25, it’s likely that his best days could still be ahead of him, too.

But with the player himself very much having a preference to play on the left-side of an attack, Liverpool simply don’t need him.

That’s before you even consider the financial aspect of his potential signing. Yes, no transfer fee would have to be paid to PSG – who paid £166m for him in 2017. But with Mbappe earning an enormous wage packet in Paris, it’s hard to see Liverpool putting that down.

Of course, it would be hugely exciting to see the Reds in for arguably the world’s best player right now. If there is a chance Mbappe is interested, then Liverpool are right to explore this. But no matter how many times this link resurfaces, we just cannot see how it happens. Sorry, Kylian.
