Jurgen Klopp has admitted that he’s already spoken to Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson Becker about an injury he picked up today.
It was a difficult afternoon for Alisson, who put in a rare shaky performance for Liverpool against Manchester City.
His tough day got even tougher deep into injury time, when the 31-year-old went down clutching his hamstring. And speaking to liverpoolfc.com after the game, Klopp shared an update on his ‘keeper’s situation.
“The shadow on this game is obviously that Ali felt something and Diogo [Jota] felt something – something we have to assess and then we will see,” said the manager.
“I hope it’s not that serious, but I don’t have the answer – no clue in the moment what it is. I spoke to him and he said he only felt [it] a little bit, but we have to wait for the scan.”
Liverpool face Alisson worry
Hopefully Alisson’s injury is nothing to worry about. He was able to play on for the short time after feeling the knock and walked off with no trouble at full-time.
With a midweek Europa League game against LASK to come, the Brazilian would have been due to sit out of that one anyway.
So, Ali has a full week and a day to recover before Liverpool face Fulham next Sunday.
Still, Liverpool fans everywhere will be crossing everything that it’s good news on their No.1. Although he was poor today – especially in terms of kicking – Alisson still came up with two big saves.
The first – at full stretch to his left to stop Phil Foden’s low drive – was a rare spectacular one, while the second – point blank from a deflected Erling Haaland flick – began the attack that led to Liverpool’s equaliser.

Even on his poor days, Alisson is still so vital to the Reds.
It’s encouraging that the Brazil international was relatively positive at full-time with Klopp, but we’ll have to wait for further scans.
A word on Jota too. The Portuguese also struggled a little today, but has been in top form over the past few months. If he’s to miss any significant time out with an injury, that will be a big blow too.
