Patrick Dorgu will reportedly not be up for sale in the January transfer window despite recent links to Liverpool.

The Lecce defender has enjoyed a breakout year in Serie A, with the Danish youth international tipped to become one of the latest defensive talents from Italy to make it to the Premier League.

Liverpool are reportedly interested, with Gianluca Di Marzio lauding the left-back as an ‘excellent’ talent, with Dorgu’s potential rather exciting.

Yet according to Lecce’s director of football, Stefano Trinchera, the defender won’t be sold in January, with the transfer chief predicting Dorgu to be worth more in the summer window.

Trinchera said when asked about the defender’s future at Lecce: “Dorgu is making people talk about him and the more times passes, the more his value increases.

“In January, he will stay with us. It’s too early to make considerations about the future, but Dorgu is now in the mouths of great European clubs. I won’t talk about the valuation of a boy who is growing day by day.”

Whilst Dorgu has revealed that he dreams of playing for Chelsea one day, the Blues once again missing out on European football ahead of next year could sway the transfer battle in Liverpool’s favour.

The Reds are in the race for the Premier League title and already look like strong favourites to return to the UEFA Champions League next season.

And for Dorgu, signing for the Reds and being primed as a successor for Andy Robertson could be an incredibly appealing option heading into 2024.

Indeed, the defender is making quite a name for himself in Italy this season with Lecce, and Liverpool could be a fantastic next step for Dorgu once his time in Serie A is done next year.
