Pep Lijnders is reportedly speaking to five Liverpool players about everything that goes on at the club this season.
It’s been a year of immense change for the Reds with numerous key players departing Anfield in the summer as Liverpool spent big on the likes of Dominik Szoboszlai, Ryan Gravenberch and Alexis Mac Allister.
And one big change that also occurred this off-season was the captaincy, with Virgil van Dijk being named skipper following the departure of Jordan Henderson.

Yet as reported by the Athletic, the leadership group has expanded beyond the Dutch international, with vice-captain Trent Alexander-Arnold, Alisson Becker, Mohamed Salah and Andy Robertson also involved.
And these five players are now who Lijnders constantly talks to at Liverpool, with issues such as training schedules to travel arrangements for away trips all going through the group.
Indeed, such a change has seemingly had big effects both on and off the pitch, and the decision to have Lijnders as the middle-man for the quintet has proven to be a good move from Jurgen Klopp.
Pep Lijnders’ new Liverpool role has led to improved results this season

Liverpool knew this summer they need drastic change if they were to return to their best for the new season, and there’s no denying that decisions made earlier this year have led to improved results.
The Reds look rejuvenated and exciting again after a campaign that left a sour taste in the mouths of supporters.
And Lijnders’ new role with Liverpool has played a key role in the Reds now fighting in the Premier League title race, a prospect few fans was possible heading into the new season.
Keeping players in the loop with everything going on at the club has led to a more united squad, and the results heading into 2024 could speak for themselves.
