Virgil van Dijk could reportedly be on the path of becoming a coach if the Liverpool defender signs a new contract with the club.
With the Dutch international already thinking he has many years left as a top Premier League centre-back, we still might be some time off from seeing Van Dijk as a coach.
But, according to FootballTransfers, the 32-year-old Liverpool captain could now be offered a potential coaching role in the future if Van Dijk was to sign a new contract with the Reds.

The former Southampton star’s current deal is due to expire in 2025, and with some pundits now claiming Van Dijk back to his absolute best, there’s certainly some gas left in the defender’s tank.
As a result, a new contract could now be on the table for Van Dijk, with the possibility of becoming a coach at Liverpool now potentially in the works once the Dutchman is done with playing.
Indeed, stepping into a training ground role at Kirkby would suit Van Dijk given his intelligence and respect at Liverpool, and the Anfield skipper could become quite the figure on the touchline.
Virgil van Dijk could become a potential top coach for Liverpool

Predicting which current players have what it takes to become a top coach after their playing days is hard to predict, yet some names just have that certain aura about them.
And Van Dijk is one such player, with the Liverpool superstar having the reputation and the brains to potentially one day become leading coach in the world of football.
Whether or not it will lead to Van Dijk replacing Jurgen Klopp at Liverpool is another question entirely, though there’s no denying that the defender ticks a lot of boxes when identifying a future manager.
And with Liverpool now lining up a role for the centre-back, all signs seem to point towards Van Dijk transitioning from the pitch to the touchline once his playing days are over.
