Manchester United are reportedly ready to activate Goncalo Inacio’s release clause, with Liverpool scouting the defender tonight.
According to Correio da Manha, the Red Devils have a payment plan in place already to sign the Sporting Lisbon defender, who has a release clause worth €60m (£52m).
With Liverpool scouting the centre-back tonight in the Lisbon Derby, news of United moving ahead with a plan to sign Inacio will come as a massive blow for Jurgen Klopp’s side.

The 22-year-old centre-back is regarded as one of Europe’s most exciting young defenders, and United getting their hands on Inacio could scupper any plans Liverpool have in January.
Indeed, a central defender is arguably Liverpool’s main transfer priority in the winter window, and Inacio would be a dream addition for the Anfield side given the youngster’s reputation and quality.
Moreover, £52m is a good price for a defender as good and as young as Inacio, with Liverpool now in a tough position if United are to move for the Portuguese international.
Liverpool can’t let Manchester United sign Inacio

January is looking to be a busy month for Liverpool for the first time in a few years, and Inacio has to be viewed as a major target for the Reds going into the market.
However, United’s interest is starting to become a major problem for Klopp’s side, and Liverpool can’t allow their Premier League rivals to win the race for the Sporting talent.
At £52m, Liverpool should have the funds needed to activate the defender’s release clause, and the structure of the club compared to United’s should make this race an easy one for the Reds.
