Liverpool will reportedly send scouts to Lisbon this weekend to watch Goncalo Inacio for Sporting facing off against city rivals Benfica.

According to Correio da Manha, the Reds, as well as Manchester United, will send officials to the Portuguese capital to watch the £52m-rated Inacio in the Lisbon Derby.

The defender has been strongly linked with a move to the Premier League in recent weeks, with Liverpool one of many sides from England interested in signing Inacio.

And this weekend will be a good match to watch Inacio, with Sporting’s clash with Benfica one of the two biggest fixtures in the Portuguese footballing calendar.

With Liverpool in the market for a central defender in January, a good audition from Inacio this weekend could convince the Reds to make a move for the youngster in the winter.

However, with United also sending scouts to Lisbon, Liverpool could have to act fast if they’re to land Inacio, who seems ready for a move to the Premier League in 2024.

A young central defender will be key for Liverpool if they’re to solidify their Premier League title bid, and Inacio could be the ideal man for the job.

Yet with United sending scouts to Portugal this weekend, Liverpool will need to pick up the pace if they’re to sign Inacio, who could be sold on a move to Anfield.

Indeed, Inacio could go quickly in January, and Liverpool have to be first off the marker if they’re to win the race for Inacio, who might be perfect under Jurgen Klopp.
