Khephren Thuram has detailed why he didn’t leave OGC Nice this summer despite strong reports that Liverpool were interested in the midfielder.

Speaking to GFFN, the £60m-rated talent revealed that he decided to stay with the French side in order to continue his development at a club where he would be a regular.

And the decision has proven to be a good one, with Nice top of Ligue 1 and unbeaten in the league, with Thuram once again playing a key role for the French Riviera side.

With Liverpool strongly linked with Thuram this summer, moving to the Premier League giants was always going to be a tempting proposition, though the midfielder seemingly made the right call.

Thuram said: “Regarding what happened in the transfer window, I decided to stay. I wanted to continue to progress at Nice, and progress as a player at this club.

“Honestly, it made me happy to be linked to all these clubs left, right and centre. It shows I’m doing the right things but as I said, I knew I wanted to stay here.”

Thuram could still make Liverpool move in 2024

Thuram has gone from strength to strength this season at Nice, with the French club shattering all expectations domestically.

And for the youngster, a move to Liverpool could still be on the cards in 2024, with Thuram clearly a good fit for the Premier League.

Whilst Nice could demand a hefty fee, there’s no denying that the financial risk could be worth it, with Liverpool a dream destination for a player of Thuram’s quality.
