Liverpool looks set to be without two midfield options for tomorrow’s Europa League trip to face Toulouse.
The Reds have the chance to qualify for the knockout stages of the competition with a win, and Jurgen Klopp looks set to rotate his squad.
However, as per the live feed of Liverpool’s afternoon training session on YouTube today, the boss won’t be able to count on either Ryan Gravenberch or Curtis Jones.
Jones missed Sunday’s draw against Luton Town with what was described as a ‘minor fitness issue.’ Minor though it may be, it looks enough to rule him out of tomorrow’s game, too. The 22-year-old was not spotted in action at the AXA on Wednesday.
Neither was Gravenberch, who’s absence may be of slightly more concern. The Dutchman was a starter on Sunday and although he was eventually substituted, it didn’t look like a fitness issue.
Let’s wait and see what Jurgen says during his press conference later today. But for Thursday’s game, this doesn’t look great for these two.
Liverpool depleted in midfield
If both Gravenberch and Jones miss out tomorrow, it will add a little extra pressure to Klopp’s team selection.
Without Thiago Alcantara and Stefan Bajcetic already, the manager could do without two more missing.
It was against tomorrow’s opposition that Klopp described Gravenberch as being ‘incredible’ last month. He’s starting to show his potential.
Jones on the other hand continues his patchy availability. Although he’s been good when called upon, the Scouser just can’t stay fit for a proper run of games. It’s unfortunately been a theme of his senior career so far.

In their absence, it’s likely that Klopp will go with a three of Alexis Mac Allister, Wataru Endo and Harvey Elliott.
With Mac Allister suspended for Sunday’s game against Brentford, it may be that Endo and Elliott are asked to go again alongside Dominik Szoboszlai at the weekend.
On paper, that’s fine. But it also doesn’t leave much at all in reserve for Liverpool.
Let’s hope both Gravenberch and Jones get the rest they need and are hopefully back to contribute very soon.
