Jurgen Klopp has claimed that Liverpool midfielder Ryan Gravenberch is going to get even better.

Gravenberch was excellent for Liverpool tonight. The Dutchman scored one of the Reds’ five goals against Toulouse and ran the show throughout.

When asked about Gravenberch’s performance by TNT Sports, Klopp admitted that he was delighted for his No.38.

“He’s a good player, eh? I told him when he came off… ‘nice player!'” beamed the Liverpool manager. “I’m so happy for him that he starts really enjoying his football again. You can see it in so many moments; his first touch is incredible, his acceleration with the ball, how strong he is in tight spaces.”

But – encouragingly, Klopp also claimed that Reds fans are only seeing the beginning of Gravenberch’s potential.

“He’s not even halfway where he can be but it’s really promising,” said the boss. “I’m really happy for him. The good thing is he has a lot of things to improve, so much space for improvement still and that’s good news. He’s very young and there’s much more to come.”

Gravenberch bursting into life

Upon his signing, some fans may have been slightly underwhelmed by Gravenberch.

After a very disappointing year at Bayern Munich, plenty in the world of football will have already written him off.

But there’s a reason why the youngster had played over 100 times for Ajax before turning 21. He’s a special talent.

So far at Liverpool, that has only really been on display in small doses. But if the last few weeks have represented Gravenberch starting to find his feet, then tonight was the night he announced himself.

From the first minute until he was substituted with 20 minutes left, Ryan was superb this evening.

He fully deserved his goal and with two goals and two assists in just nine games now for Liverpool, he’s starting to look a real steal.

The most exciting thing is that – as Klopp says – this really does feel like just the beginning. Once Gravenberch is fully settled at Anfield, he’s going to take some stopping.

We’re here for it!
