Brentford have reportedly set an £80m asking price on star striker Ivan Toney after the forward admitted he was a Liverpool supporter as a kid.

According to the Evening Standard, the Bees are open to selling the forward in January, with Arsenal and Chelsea both interested in signing Toney in 2024.

Despite missing the entire season so far due to a betting ban, Brentford still value the 27-year-old attacker incredibly highly, even with his contract expiring in 18 months time in January.

As a result, Toney could now potentially miss out on a dream move to Liverpool, with the forward revealing earlier this year that he supported the club.

Indeed, with Liverpool already stacked in the attacking area, a move for Toney might be redundant to begin with heading into 2024.

And with Brentford setting an £80m asking price for the England international, Liverpool would be crazy to pursue a move for Toney in January.

Toney is easily one of the best strikers in the Premier League and a player who should now feature for one of the division’s biggest sides.

Yet Liverpool would be an odd destination for the attacker, with the Reds having a plethora of options in their forward ranks, with Darwin Nunez the lead striker already.

With Arsenal and Chelsea in the market for a no. 9, either London side could be ideal for Toney, who might have to pack in his Liverpool dream once and for all.
