Liverpool’s predicted XI vs Bournemouth: Jurgen Klopp makes nine changes as 20-year-old starts

Liverpool play their first away game in three matches as they aim to reach the fifth round of the Carabao Cup on Wednesday night.

A trip down to the South Coast to play Bournemouth is on the calendar, and here’s the XI we expect Jurgen Klopp to send out at Dean Court.

Defence

Caoimhin Kelleher has had some heroics over the years in the Carabao Cup. He’ll look to invoke that spirit once more as he steps in for Alisson Becker tomorrow.

Kelleher is perhaps the easiest of the back five to predict, but the other four more-or-less pick themselves right now, too.

With first-choice options likely to be rested for Sunday’s Premier League trip to Luton, the four in-front of Kelleher is expected to be a brand new one.

That should mean Joe Gomez comes in to potentially captain the side from right-back. Joel Matip will add some experience next to him, with 20-year-old pair Jarell Quansah and Luke Chambers making up a young left side.

Midfield

With the games now coming hot on the heels of each other, Klopp has to make sure he gets his midfield rotation right.

One easy decision will be to restore Wataru Endo, who played just a handful of minutes against Nottingham Forest on Sunday. Curtis Jones is also likely to come back in, having now served his full three-match ban.

Alongside those two the manager is likely to have to play one of trio who started against Forest.

With Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai most in need of a rest, we think Ryan Gravenberch will slot back in as a result.

Attack

Liverpool need to rotate a few players tomorrow as they look to keep their good early season form on-track. But in attack, Klopp doesn’t really have that luxury.

Harvey Elliott will surely come back in to fill-in for Mohamed Salah. But otherwise, the boss is going to have to send out two of his more regular starters.

Cody Gakpo should be one as he continues his return to full match fitness. Meanwhile we think it’s likely that Diogo Jota gets the nod to play from the left.
