Liverpool mounted pressure on Arsenal and Tottenham with a thumping win against Nottingham Forest at Anfield this afternoon.

Here’s how Jurgen Klopp’s players rated as the Reds picked up a crucial three points with a comfortable Premier League victory on Merseyside.

Defence

Alisson Becker: 6 – With just two shots faced all game, Alisson Becker won’t experience an easier game this season than he did today, with Nottingham Forest failing to test the Brazilian international.

Trent Alexander-Arnold: 6 – An unusually quiet day at the office for Trent Alexander-Arnold, with the ‘world-class’ defender struggling to create much in the final third yet not being tested too much on the break.

Ibrahima Konate: 7 – Having escaped a red card last weekend against Everton, Ibrahima Konate was back to his brilliant best this afternoon, with Nottingham Forest’s forwards having no chance of beating the Frenchman.

Virgil van Dijk: 7 – Much like his centre-back teammate, Virgil van Dijk was imperious in defence, with the captain spending most of the game in the opponents half as Nottingham Forest failed to put any pressure on Liverpool.

Kostas Tsimikas: 7 – Another strong appearance from the Greek international as Kostas Tsimikas tormented Morgan Gibbs-White and Serge Aurier down the left-flank.

Midfield

Dominik Szoboszlai: 7 – Assisted Darwin Nunez to make it 2-0 to Liverpool with a genius cut-back, with Dominik Szoboszlai once again proving his creative qualities in the attacking third against Nottingham Forest.

Alexis Mac Allister: 7 – Another commanding performance from Alexis Mac Allister as the Argentine midfielder pushed forward occasionally to test Nottingham Forest’s defence.

Ryan Gravenberch: 7 – Having starred midweek against Toulouse, Ryan Gravenberch enjoyed a comfortable display against Nottingham Forest, with the midfield trio today arguably Jurgen Klopp’s best selection at his disposal.

Attack

Mohamed Salah: 7 – It took some time, but Mohamed Salah was rewarded with a goal after a Nottingham Forest mistake allowed the winger to wrap up the three points.

Darwin Nunez: 7 – Once again an agent of chaos for Liverpool as the Uruguay international doubled Liverpool’s lead and to bring his tally for the season to six.

Diogo Jota: 8 – Opened the scoring for Liverpool having tested Matt Turner throughout the entire game as the £40m-rated Diogo Jota rewarded Jurgen Klopp with a fantastic performance at Anfield.

Harvey Elliott: 6 – Almost scored just seconds after coming on for Ryan Gravenberch. Another strong cameo from the bench for Harvey Elliott.

Cody Gakpo: 5 – An efficient appearance from the bench from the winger but nothing to write home about.

Wataru Endo: N/A

Joe Gomes: N/A
