Dominik Szoboszlai has admitted that he’s yet to meet Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard.
Having taken Gerrard’s iconic No.8 shirt at Liverpool this summer, it was never going to be long before Szoboszlai started seeing himself compared to the great Reds captain.
In the end, it took barely any time at all. The comparison have been as endless as they have been predictable.
Nevertheless, there is something in them. So much so that during an interview via BeanymanSports yesterday Szoboszlai was asked whether he’d ever actually met Gerrard in person.
“No never, never,” said the 23-year-old. Would he like to?
“Of course why not, have a nice chat. Probably he could help me a lot with everything. Yeah, would be nice.”

Last year, Liverpool blessed us all with a terrific video of Gerrard having a sit down chat with Mohamed Salah.
With all this talk currently surrounding Szoboszlai, it would be great to see them do a similar thing with Stevie and Dom.
Of course, Gerrard is currently out in Saudi Arabia managing Al Ettifaq. But managing games in-front of less than 1,000 fans is hardly a taxing job for Stevie. There’s plenty of time to get this sorted.
And what a chat it could be. Comparing goals, talking technique. There is certainly a lot Gerrard could teach the younger man.
Perhaps when things inevitably end poorly for Gerrard in Saudi Arabia, Liverpool should go one step further and bring him back to the club.
As his stint in the Middle East pretty much confirms, his managerial prospects are not exactly great right now.
His presence on Jurgen Klopp’s coaching staff could be valuable in terms of imparting knowledge and also luring potential signings in.
Szoboszlai certainly sounds like he’d welcome that, and we would too. First though, let’s introduce these two to one another please!
