Hoffenheim forward Maximilian Beier may have just become a little easier for Liverpool to sign.

Beier has reportedly been on Liverpool’s watch-list as they assess their future transfer plans. With six Bundesliga goals already this season, the 21-year-old looks like a breakout star of 2023/24.

And according to journalist Christian Falk, Beier has now signed a new contract at Hoffenheim, which may just facilitate a move.

Writing on Twitter late on Tuesday, Falk reported that the German now has a release clause in his paperwork.

“Despite the concrete interest of Brentford and Everton, Maximilian Beier (21) signed a new contract at tsghoffenheim til [sic] 2027, including a release clause,” says the journalist.

“With 6 goals the striker is in the Top5 of Bundesliga. Also Liverpool scouted Beier.”

Liverpool get Beier boost

This could obviously be taken one of two ways in regards to Liverpool’s possible interest in Beier.

Some may see the signing of a new deal as an indication that it will actually be more difficult to get the Germany U21 star out of Hoffenheim.

Obviously, with less time on his deal and more than likely a much lower wage, Liverpool could have pulled something out of the hat for Beier comfortably on his old contract.

But the inclusion of a release clause does mean that the Reds can cut out the middle man.

As they showed with the summer deals to sign both Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai, Liverpool like to do business this way. If they see value in a release clause, they’ve got no problem triggering it.

Of course, much will depend on just how much Beier’s get-out fee is. But unlike their Spanish counterparts, German clubs tend to make them reasonable and achievable.

If Beier continues his good form for the season then you’d imagine Liverpool will keep scouting him.

Should they be happy with what they see, they now know exactly how much it will take to get the striker – who’s said to be the second quickest player in the Bundesliga [Daily Briefing] – to Anfield.
