Reported Liverpool transfer target Pedro Neto is completely happy at Wolves for now.

Neto has been heavily linked with a move to Anfield over the past month or so, with reports claiming Liverpool have been sending scouts to watch the 23-year-old in action.

However, as per quotes from the Birmingham Mail, Wolves boss Gary O’Neil has been at pains to point out that Neto is in fact happy where he is.

O’Neil was speaking as a special guest on Sky Sports last night. Asked about the Portugal international’s form, the manager suggested he wouldn’t be going anywhere anytime soon.

“He’s incredibly happy at Wolves,” said the former Liverpool youth coach. “He’s enjoying his football and he’s rediscovered some good form.

“He has had a tough couple of years with some bad injuries and form, and he’s now performing at his best.

“He’s incredibly settled, happy at the club, and we are going to try and help him achieve some big things whilst he is here.”

Neto settled at Wolves

Having been at the club since 2019, it stands to reason that Neto is very happy and settled at Wolves.

The Midlands club are notorious for having a very strong Portuguese core and that has no doubt helped the forward bed down.

But that doesn’t mean that he wouldn’t jump at the chance to get his big move.

Diogo Jota was also perfectly fine at Molineux until Liverpool came in for him back in 2020. Since then, the 26-year-old has taken his game up several levels.

Although they’re different players, you’d imagine that the £50m-rated Neto [Metro] would be able to cope similarly with the change in expectation at a top club.

Still only 23, he’s played with some superstars for the Portugal national team. Slotting in with players better than what Wolves have shouldn’t be an issue.

At this stage, we’d be surprised to see a January move for Neto, at least from Liverpool. But if he carries on the way that he is, then come next summer he’ll surely be pushing to make that next step.
