Virgil van Dijk amazed by Liverpool player’s debut this season

Virgil van Dijk has praised Jarell Quansah’s transition from the academy to the senior team, with the Liverpool captain impressed by the youngster’s debut.

Speaking to TNT Sports, the Dutch international lauded his new Liverpool teammate with Quansah establishing himself as one of the Reds’ newest talents to keep an eye on.

The England youth international made his Premier League debut against Newcastle United as Quansah impressed at St. James Park, with the youngster making five appearances in total this season.

Indeed, Quansah has won praise from fans and pundits everytime he has taken the field for Liverpool, and Van Dijk is seemingly a big fan of the youngster.

The defender said: “I am the captain now so I tried to help him. The way he conducted himself throughout the whole game and how solid he was, I was very proud.

“It takes you back to how you were when you were younger and what you would’ve liked as advice and how people would’ve reacted. He was so good.”

The Dutch international is one of the best in the world in his position, and the lessons Quansah can learn from Van Dijk will be valuable in his development.

Coupled with first-team experience in the Premier League and in Europe, Quansah could be on the path to stardom, with Van Dijk the ideal mentor for the youngster.
