£38m West Ham star says Liverpool have a player who’s impossible to tackle

West Ham United forward Mohammed Kudus says Liverpool’s Thiago Alcantara has been his toughest ever opponent.

Kudus is a self-proclaimed Thiago super-fan. The 23-year-old has raved about Liverpool’s No.6 in the past, declaring the Spaniard as one of his football idols.

Therefore when JD Football asked him to name the most difficult player he’s played against, Kudus’ answer wasn’t a surprise.

“I’ll say Thiago Alcantara,” replied the Ghanaian. “I played against him in the Champions League with Liverpool and I think he was top of his game. It was difficult to get close to him.”

Oh how we’d love to be able to watch Thiago feinting his way through games again. Hopefully not long now.

Kudus sends Thiago reminder

Kudus’ commitment to spreading the word about Thiago is quite impressive. Yes, the Liverpool man is one of the best midfielders of his generation, but he isn’t necessarily an obvious choice here.

And yet, West Ham’s £38m signing clearly absolutely loves him.

“I loved [Thiago’s] game as a child,” Kudus told ajax.nl back in October last year. “I like creativity and joy of playing.

“When I played in Denmark, a friend of mine arranged a shirt from him. It was fantastic. The shirt is hanging at my home and I am very proud of it.”

With these words in mind, you can’t help but feel Kudus has approached the question from JD with a little bias.

Nevertheless, you can only imagine how difficult Thiago is to play against. The 32-year-old’s football intelligence is on another level. He sees things no one else sees and keeps hold of the ball like it’s his own personal property.

With the former Barcelona academy graduate missing much of the past calendar year, we’re counting down the days until we see him in action again. According to Jurgen Klopp, that may not be too far away.
