Liverpool scouts went to watch £34m player in action on Wednesday, they’ve seen him loads this season

Liverpool had talent-spotters in the crowd to watch Andre Trindade for Fluminense this week.

Fluminense had one of their biggest games in years on Wednesday, Brazilian time, taking on Internacional for a place in the Copa Libertadores final.

And according to 90min, Liverpool scouts were there to see it all, with their eyes firmly set on one player in particular.

It’s no secret that the Reds are interested in Andre. They were seemingly close to signing him in the summer, but Fluminense stood firm.

Now though, it’s claimed that Liverpool haven’t forgotten about the 22-year-old, and are ‘continuing to monitor’ him. That culminated in a watching brief in Porto Alegre this week, where Andre was reportedly one of the ‘star performers’ as Flu won 2-1 to qualify for the final.

It seemingly isn’t the first time Liverpool have cast an eye over the Brazil international this season. It’s claimed that the Reds have been ‘checking in’ on Andre ever since the summer.

Premier League rivals Fulham are another who are clamed to retain an interest in the midfielder. But with Andre himself reportedly preferring to join a side in ‘consistent European contention,’ Liverpool are said to have the edge.

After the saga this summer, fans will probably now be disappointed if Andre does not become a Liverpool payer in January.

With Thiago Alcantara’s seemingly endless injury problems, there is still room for one more midfielder in Jurgen Klopp’s squad.

As a result, Andre rocking up in the New Year would be a real boost.

Thankfully, it seems as though Liverpool are still seriously entertaining that possibility. With reports that Andre will eventually come even cheaper than his £34m release clause [NETFLU], the Reds won’t need to break the bank to get the deal done.

Between now and then there’ll still be plenty of chances for Liverpool to ratify whether the Brazilian is worth it.

Fluminense have 13 games of the season remaining, as well as a Copa Libertadores final against Boca Juniors on November 4th.

They’ve likely already made up their mind after seeing Andre turn in some super displays. But do well in South America’s centre-piece game and Liverpool will have no choice but to solidify their interest.
