Liverpool defender Jarell Quansah has been hailed after an assured performance last night.
The 20-year-old made his European debut for the Reds, playing the full 90 minutes and keeping a clean sheet as Liverpool beat Union Saint-Gilloise 2-0.
It was a performance that drew praise from Reds boss Jurgen Klopp, as well as a number of Quansah’s fellow professionals on Instagram.

One of those commenting underneath the centre-back’s celebratory post-match pictures was Chelsea’s Carney Chukwuemeka.
Chukwuemeka, who signed for Chelsea for £20m in 2022, has played with Quansah at England U19 level. And the Liverpool man has clearly made an impression, with his national team colleague labelling him a ‘top player.’ Nice.
Quansah gets Chukwuemeka approval
Although he may be a new face for Liverpool, Quansah has actually been around the block a little already.
Having been earmarked as a potential first-teamer from a young age, the Warrington born defender has steadily moved through the England youth teams.
This was topped off in summer 2022, when Quansah played a key role in the Young Lions victorious Euro U19s tournament.

Chukwuemeka was another of England’s star performers that summer, bagging three goals including one in the final. Both players were named in UEFA’s Team of the Tournament.
For Chukwuemeka, that was enough to see him get his move to Chelsea, where he’s so far failed to really get going. Still only 19 though, the former Aston Villa youngster has plenty of time to make good.
Quansah is a little older than his England teammate, but has no less potential.
He may be a bit of a late bloomer in respect to someone like Chukwuemeka, but from what we’ve seen this season, Jarell can go just as far.
