Steve McManaman spotted Liverpool fans sounding their appreciation of Ryan Gravenberch’s display this evening.
Gravenberch had an enjoyable evening for Liverpool, grabbing his first goal for the club after pouncing on a spill from Union Saint-Gilloise goalkeeper Anthony Moris.
In a poor game overall, the 21-year-old had a good shout at being the evening’s outstanding player. And having been withdrawn by Jurgen Klopp with around 12 minutes left to play, TNT Sports commentator McManaman noted the Anfield crowd’s reaction.

“I was going to say a moment of class, but it wasn’t!” said the former Liverpool winger. “He gets his rewards, though. Standing ovation from the Liverpool fans.”
Another start, another goal contribution for the Netherlands international. Settling in very well to his new surroundings.
Gravenberch gets first Liverpool goal
Right from the first whistle of the game, there was something slightly different about Gravenberch this evening.
So far in his Liverpool career the midfielder has looked to be playing a little within himself. There have been some moments of real quality, including a great assist on the opening matchday in the Europa League.
But by and large, Gravenberch has had to feel his way into life at Liverpool, with a series of quiet cameos.

Not today, though. From the start of the match Gravenberch was running the game and showing just what a good player he is.
As McManaman points out, the goal itself wasn’t a great indication of that, but it was still a good show of anticipation.
The former Bayern Munich man gambled on the goalie dropping it at his feet, and that’s exactly what ended up happening.
Since his £34m move was confirmed in September, Gravenberch simply hasn’t stopped smiling. Tonight, with the cheers of Anfield ringing in his ears, he had a grin as wide as the Mersey. Get in, Ryan!
