Liverpool scouts have been impressed after watching Feyenoord midfielder Quinten Timber in action.

Timber, who’s twin brother Jurrien signed for Arsenal this summer, has started the season well for Feyenoord, bagging one goal and three assists in seven Eredivisie games.

And according to 90min, that has caught the attention of top teams from across Europe, including Liverpool.

The Reds are said to be one of a host of teams who have filed ‘favourable’ reports on Timber, after travelling to watch him play.

Neatly, Arsenal are one of the sides also claimed to have liked what they’ve seen from the 22-year-old. Others, including Manchester’s City and United as well as Tottenham, are also linked.

Liverpool scouting Timber

Although Liverpool may very well be keeping an eye on the raft of talent at Feyenoord currently, we’re not sure Timber is the one they’re truly watching.

Having just signed four midfielders, there shouldn’t be a huge rush from Liverpool to bring more in.

Nevertheless, links with Andre Trindade, for example, have persisted, with the Reds perhaps pre-empting Thiago Alcantara’s likely exit this summer.

So, maybe if Liverpool have their eye on filling that particular hole in the squad, Timber could be the man.

With eyes on Feyenoord though, we’d suggest that there may be a different player grabbing Liverpool’s attention. If this summer was all about bolstering Jurgen Klopp’s midfield, then we we feel the next one will see the defence take centre stage.

Keeping that in mind, it wouldn’t be a surprise to hear that Liverpool are keeping tabs on Feyenoord’s Slovakian centre-half David Hancko. Left-footed, 25, and a supreme long-range passer, he could fit the bill for Klopp.

So too may Hancko’s defensive partner Lutsharel Geertruida. Although not a leftie, Geertruida is talented, young and versatile. Both, along with Timber, are worth watching closely.
