Mac Allister’s Dad shares what Alexis has been saying about Liverpool in the family WhatsApp now

Alexis Mac Allister has been backing himself to score during Liverpool’s game against Union Saint-Gilloise tomorrow.

Mac Allister is set to take on his brother, Kevin, for the first time in his professional career, as the Belgian side travel to Anfield. It remains to be seen whether or not Alexis starts the game, but he looks likely to feature at some stage.

In the lead up to the match, the Liverpool ECHO have spoken to Alexis and Kevin’s Father, Carlos, to take the temperature of the Mac Allister household.

“All the time they are joking with each other,” says the former Argentina international. “Alexis says he will dribble past Kevin, or Kevin will say he will put in a hard tackle, or Alexis will say that he will score.

“In the WhatsApp group of the family, they joke and talk a lot. But they live everything in a healthy way.”

Mac Allister brothers go head-to-head

Ever since the draw was made back in September, Mac Allister has clearly been looking forward to this one.

Having only moved to Union in August himself, it hasn’t taken long for Kevin to come up against his younger brother in Europe.

As a centre-back, it could be a busy night for the older Mac Allister sibling. Without Cody Gakpo, there’s a chance that Kevin has to contend with Alexis’ new best mate, Darwin Nunez.

But with Liverpool’s No.10 also seemingly in the mood to score, maybe we’ll finally see him playing a little further up the pitch, too.

As things stand, you’d expect that Wataru Endo will take his place at the base of the Reds midfield. If he plays, this will free Mac Allister up to go in search of some WhatsApp bragging rights. However, we hate to disappoint Carlos, but we’re not sure the World Cup winner will be on the team sheet.

Curtis Jones‘ domestic ban means he’s almost certain to play, with Klopp left to pick between Ryan Gravenberch, Dominik Szoboszlai and Mac Allister for the last spot.

It’s not perfect for Jurgen, with a game at Brighton to come on Sunday. Someone’s going to have to miss out. For the sake of family banter, we hope it’s not Alexis.
