Inter Milan will reportedly open contract talks with Nicolo Barella after a summer of Liverpool being linked with the midfielder.
According to Italian journalist Rudy Galetti, the Nerazzurri are working on tying down the Italian international to a new deal, alongside Lautaro Martinez and Federico Dimarco.
Lauded by Steven Gerrard as a ‘world-class’ talent, Liverpool were strongly rumoured with a move for Barella this summer in the hunt to overhaul their midfield.

And heading into 2024, this update is the last thing the Reds will want to hear, with Inter now in talks to extend Barella’s stay at the San Siro.
Indeed, the 26-year-old is a dream signing for Liverpool, yet contract talks with Inter could now see Barella remain in Milan despite being primed for a Premier League move.
As a result, Liverpool might need to change tact when it comes to signing a superstar midfielder, with Barella a perfect option for Jurgen Klopp.
Liverpool will have to pray Inter’s contract talks with Barella collapse

Barella has been linked for some time with a move to Liverpool, and with the midfielder arguably at the peak of his career, the Reds should be looking to sign the Italian in the next 12 months.
However, with Inter now opening contract talks with Barella, the Reds will need to pray for a miracle if the midfielder is to one day end up at Anfield in his best playing years.
Although there’s no guarantee that Barella will sign a new contract with Inter, Liverpool’s chances of landing the midfielder have never felt lower after this latest update.
