Jurgen Klopp has admitted his surprise at how quickly Dominik Szoboszlai has settled into life at Liverpool.

Szoboszlai underlined just how good his start has been at Anfield with an absolute rocket against Leicester City tonight.

And speaking to BBC Radio 5 Live after the game, Klopp said the ease at which the 22-year-old has slotted in has surprised even him.

“Dom [Szoboszlai] was a surprise with how fast he has fit in,” admitted the manager. “It was pretty much from the first minute.

“Top-class player with a lot of quality. He never stops. He learns a lot from the game.”

Szobo settles straight in

Sometimes things just click with new signings. If you look at many of Klopp’s best additions during his time at Liverpool, most of the very best ones hit the ground running immediately.

Virgil van Dijk memorably scored on his debut against Everton in 2018 and never looked back.

Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane both did the same and quickly followed those strikes up with more and more goals, too.

Alisson Becker took no time at all to bed in, while Luis Diaz was another who burst onto the scene immediately.

Others, like Fabinho, Andy Robertson and now Darwin Nunez for example, take a little longer.

But when it works straight away, it usually signals that a player is here to stay. With Szoboszlai, you can’t help but get the feeling that we’re at the start of what could be a very special Liverpool career.

The Hungarian is already a fan favourite. If he can keep on delivering as he has been right from the word go this season, Szoboszlai is going to find the adulation just keeps on coming. What have you unleashed, Jurgen?!
