Former Liverpool loanee Arthur Melo starred on his Europa Conference League debut for Fiorentina, as they secured a 2-2 draw in a thrilling game against Genk.

The 27-year-old played only 13 minutes during his loan spell at Anfield last season but has enjoyed a great start to life on loan at his new club.

In his four games, he already has an assist whilst putting in a man-of-the-match display against Lecce in Serie A.

However, last night’s performance against Genk may have been his best one yet in a Fiorentina shirt.

Arthur demonstrates his qualities in Europe

The Brazilian midfielder made 39 passes, at an accuracy rate of 98% – two of which were key passes into the final third.

He also demonstrated his defensive capabilities winning four tackles – the most of any player on the pitch.

Arthur also won ten duels against the opposition and like the tackles it was the highest tally of anyone within the two squads.

The 27-year-old was a key part of Fiorentina’s side last night.

His impressive start to the campaign for his new side is evidence that he still has the ability to operate to a high level.

His spell at Liverpool might not have been a success, but he certainly looks to be hitting the heights he achieved at Juventus and Barcelona.
