Liverpool first-team players have already taken a strong liking to Jarell Quansah, who made his first senior start for the Reds on Saturday.

Speaking to Anfield Index, the Athletic’s James Pearce revealed that a number of figures at Kirkby are big fans of Quansah, with some senior players already loving the defender being promoted to the first team.

Quansah has made three Premier League appearances for Liverpool already this season with Virgil van Dijk out through suspension and Ibrahima Konate on the treatment table.

And the defender’s performances have been impressive, with Quansah looking like a natural in the Premier League alongside Liverpool’s veteran defenders of Andy Robertson and Trent Alexander-Arnold.

Indeed, it’s not just the fans Quansah has impressed, with Pearce saying: “He does remind me a little bit of a young Wayne Rooney in terms of his physicality and his fearlessness.

“He doesn’t look like a kid playing a man’s game; he looks well and truly suited to it. They love him around the first team squad; the senior players have really taken to him.”

Quansah has been thrust into the Liverpool senior squad due to their shortcomings at the back, yet early signs have been encouraging, and the defender could now become a regular for the Reds.

A new centre-back has been needed at Liverpool for some time, and finding a solution via the academy is a dream solution for many supporters.

And Quansah could be the man to fill that role, with the 20-year-old causing waves in just a few short games for Liverpool, with more matches expected to come in the upcoming weeks.
