Jurgen Klopp has suggested that Jarell Quansah was one of the few Liverpool players who turned up in the first half against Wolves this weekend.

Speaking to the press via Liverpool World, the Anfield boss praised the 20-year-old defender after Quansah impressed in his first-ever Premier League start for the Reds.

Despite going into the break 1-0 down, Klopp was pleased with what he has seen from Quansah, who is an early contender for the breakout player in the Premier League this campaign.

And the Liverpool manager’s praise didn’t stop at just praising Quansah, with Klopp saying about the England youth international: “He did well, he did really well.

“It was really good, a nice, wonderful experience for him. He came on always in very decisive moments, he didn’t come on to close games or whatever, we had to do something there.

“And today he was good, I have to say. In such a disorganised team like we were in the first half, being the one who looks kind of alright is a statement absolutely.”

Klopp’s praise could hint at more Liverpool starts for Quansah

With Liverpool’s shortcomings in defence already becoming clear, Quansah has emerged as a shining light in the position having impressed in every appearance this season.

The youngster looks like a seasoned Premier League veteran already, and Klopp’s comments could hint at even more starts for Quansah in the near future.

The UEFA Europa League will be an opportunity for Quansah to show his quality on a European stage, and Klopp’s praise for the Liverpool youngster could lead to a bigger role for the youngster this season.
