Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp is set to receive an early boost during the international break due to three key players returning early from duty for their nations.

Summer signing Dominic Szoboszlai is joined by Dutch duo Virgil van Dijk and Cody Gakpo in finishing their latest round of international fixtures on Sunday night this week.

Their early return means that they will have the entire week to train with Klopp ahead of the Premier League returning on September 16th.

Hungarian ace Szoboszlai is in line to face Serbia on Thursday afternoon in the Euro 2024 Qualifiers before a friendly match with Czech Republic at the weekend. Hungary sit top of their group on goal difference with Serbia sat second, both on seven points after winning two and drawing one of their opening three fixtures.

For van Dijk and Gakpo, the Netherlands face Greece tomorrow afternoon in their Euro 2024 Qualifiers group before a friendly against the Republic of Ireland. Currently sat second bottom in the table after one win and one loss, a victory against Greece is crucial for the Liverpool stars before their return to Merseyside.

Boost for Klopp

A handful of other international Reds could be back on Wednesday, whereas the South American contingent such as Alexis Mac Allister, Darwin Nunez, Alisson and Luis Diaz will likely return on Thursday as their last fixtures continue into the early hours of Wednesday UK time.

Having Szoboszlai, van Dijk and Gakpo back early will be a major boost for Klopp alongside the other players who were not selected for international duty such as Joe Gomez, Curtis Jones and Joel Matip.

It is a refreshing change for the German manager who has often expressed his negative feelings towards the international break and its collision with domestic football.
