Nat Phillips has claimed that both Virgil van Dijk and Andy Robertson are ‘jealous’ of his loan move to Celtic.

Phillips completed a half-season loan to the Scottish giants yesterday, finally getting an exit from Liverpool that had been billed for 18 months.

And speaking to Celtic TV after joining the Glaswegians, the 26-year-old gave a nod to two of his Reds teammates.

“Robbo [Andy Robertson] is probably just as excited as I am and I think,” Phillips admitted. Potentially, a little bit jealous because he loves it here.

“And the same with Virgil. He had a great time here, so I’ve heard nothing but good things.”

Robertson is, of course, an avid Celtic fan. The left-back has never been shy to state his desire to one day play for the club he grew up supporting. So it’s no surprise to hear of his excitement.

Van Dijk too has plenty of respect for the perennial Scottish champions, having spent two excellent seasons at Parkhead in his younger years.

Although Celtic fans would no doubt have preferred to have seen either Liverpool player join them, Phillips looks a good fit.

Do the business for Brendan Rodgers and perhaps he’ll see that loan extended, or even turned permanent.

Best of luck, big man!
