Joe Gomez has praised Trent Alexander-Arnold’s passing against Aston Villa, with the Liverpool defender in fine form on Sunday.
Speaking to the club’s official website, the defender was impressed with what the 24-year-old was doing against Villa, with Gomez saying: “Trent played some great balls and showed his ability.”
Whilst the fullback was forced off with a hamstring injury, there’s no denying that Alexander-Arnold was at his passing best against Unai Emery’s side on the weekend.

Villa’s tactics allowed the England international to exploit the space perfectly, with the fullback enjoying plenty of room down the wing despite being more tucked in at central defence.
Although the fullback might now miss Liverpool’s next Premier League game against Wolves, Alexander-Arnold will be pleased with his performance against Villa.

Moreover, with Gomez now working well alongside Alexander-Arnold, the pair could return to their best in the coming weeks if the right-back can recover from his latest injury quickly enough.
Gomez will hope Alexander-Arnold is fit for Liverpool’s next match

Gomez’s comment on Alexander-Arnold is perhaps no real surprise given how incredible the Liverpool defender is when it comes to passing.
And the 26-year-old centre-back will be hopeful that Alexander-Arnold is back for Liverpool’s clash against Wolves after the international break.
With Alexander-Arnold withdrawing from England duty, the issue could be worse than first thought, though, and Gomez could well be called upon to replace the right-back in the Liverpool XI.
