Liverpool have been in touch with Arthur Theate over the possibility of a move to Anfield this summer.
The Reds were linked with Theate last weekend, with the French press suggesting that the Rennes defender could be on his way to Merseyside.
And touching on those rumours in his latest YouTube video, journalist David Lynch claimed that Liverpool have indeed explored a deal for Theate.

“It’s my understanding that there is a Liverpool interest there,” confirmed the journalist. “There’s maybe been a little bit of contact on the player’s side a few months ago. Nothing really firm coming out of that one, but it’s someone I think we can confidently say is on the shortlist.
“Fits the profile really nicely and also a player that Liverpool have watched and made a little bit of contact on the player’s side just to enquire around the conditions of a deal.”

Liverpool in touch with Theate
With news of Ibrahima Konate’s injury coming out yesterday, Liverpool’s need for a new defender has been accelerated.
All summer long the Reds have reportedly been assessing their options in the transfer market. With less than a week now to go in the window, that’s still said to be the case.
But assessing and actually making a move for a player are two very different things.

The time for talking and making tentative contact is over. Liverpool now need to be decisive or run the risk of another season of an undercooked defensive line.
Theate’s addition would certainly solve that. Although he’s young, the 23-year-old already has top-level experience in France and Italy and has won eight caps for Belgium.
Left-footed, big and good on the ball, Theate would bring a fair bit to Liverpool this season.
Obviously, it’s encouraging to hear that the Reds are aware of his potential, and making some in-roads. But at this stage of the summer, we need to hear of something more concrete.
