Liverpool are keen on Bayern Munich winger Leroy Sane and could look to strike a deal for the German international should Mohamed Salah depart the club in the near future.
According to a report from Italian outlet Calcio Mercato, the former Manchester City player is being considered by the Reds as a potential replacement for the Egyptian.
Reportedly, the 27-year-old could be subject to an approach from the Jurgen Klopp’s side next year, but only if Salah parts ways – Federico Chiesa is also a player of interest should Liverpool need to find a new wide man.

Sane has been with Die Roten since 2020 having signed from Man City for an initial fee of £44.2million, with add-ons that could have taken it nearer to £51million, and has now featured 135 times for the German giants.
During that time, he has scored 40 goals and registered 37 assists. His record for the Cityzens is scarily similar to his numbers at Bayern as in 135 appearances for Pep Guardiola’s side, Sane scored 39 goals and set up a further 46.

When the winger left City, Guardiola was honest about wishing they had been able to keep hold of him.
Sane praise
“We wish him all the best, big thanks for our years together. We wish him all the best in his new chapter at a fantastic club,” said the Spaniard.
“Is it disappointing? He wants to leave. Everyone has their own life. He deserves to move on.
“I’d love him to stay here but he decided to move on because he believes he will be happier [in Munich].”
A much admired player, Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard also had his say on the attacker whilst he was plying his trade in the Premier League. The current Al-Ettifaq manager stated back in 2017 that Sane could have become ‘one of the best’ players in England.
Nobody wants to see Salah leave, but when it eventually does happen it is refreshing to see the calibre of player being linked with replacing him.
