Having missed out on Moises Caicedo and Romeo Lavia to Chelsea, Liverpool will now turn their attention to Fluminense midfielder Andre Trindade.
According to John Cross’ report in The Mirror, the Reds could now step up their pursuit of the 22-year-old as their search goes on for a new defensive midfielder.
Earlier this month it was reported by MailOnline that Jurgen Klopp’s men had submitted a £21million bid for the Brazil international, however, the Brasileiro outfit could demand up to £34million due to having a release clause of that amount in his contract as per Netflu.
As Jordan Henderson and Fabinho have already departed to Saudi Pro League sides Al-Ettifaq and Al Ittihad, Liverpool are desperate for a holding midfielder to join their ranks. Andre may have to be that man due to the failed pursuits of Caicedo and Lavia.

Still a youngster, the Brazilian has amassed 147 appearances for Fluminense. He has scored three and assisted three in that time, predominantly occupying the number six role although capable of playing further forward centrally or as an attacking midfielder.

Andre’s impressive performances have caught the eye as of late, and he was rewarded by earning his first cap for his nation in June. He played 16 minutes of an international friendly in a 4-2 loss to Senegal – a game in which former Reds star Sadio Mane bagged a brace.
Is Andre the man?
The Liverpool target has tasted success already in the early stages of his career, winning successive Taca Guanabara and Campeonato Carioca titles with Fluminense in 2022 and 2023. The trophies in question are regional championships in the state of Rio de Janeiro and hold some weight in Brazil.
He also secured himself a spot in the Brazilian league’s team of the year last season.
With 61 appearances to his name over the course of 2022, he has proven his endurance and capability to perform throughout uncomfortable fixture congestion – something the Reds know about all too well.
Particularly praised for his passing and ball-carrying qualities, Andre has work to be done when it comes to goal contributions, though Klopp may fancy himself as the man to help unlock that side of his game.
This deal could be one to keep an eye on over the coming days and weeks with the transfer window set to close in just over a fortnight from now.
