Liverpool are planning to go ahead with a medical for Moises Caicedo, after agreeing a deal for the midfielder last night.
Reds fans will be waking up to some stunning news this morning, as their club stand on the verge of breaking the British transfer record. It comes after Liverpool made a late hijack of Chelsea’s bid to sign Caicedo from Brighton on Thursday.
And taking to Twitter this morning, journalist James Pearce shared the latest details of the imminent transfer.

“LFC have agreed a British record £110m fee with Brighton to sign Moises Caicedo after out-bidding Chelsea,” says Pearce.
“Medical set to take place today. Remarkable turn of events and a proper show of ambition.”

A remarkable turn of events and a proper show of ambition is exactly what this is.
Just a day or two ago, nobody would have seen this coming. Caicedo had long been thought to be out of Liverpool’s reach this summer, no matter how they admired him.
But, this transfer window has already seen some crazy things happen. And while the Reds stalled on getting a deal for Romeo Lavia over the line, the feeling grew that they might have something up their sleeve.

Even the most optimistic of Liverpool supporters wouldn’t have expected that to be a record fee for a player who looked destined for Chelsea.
For the Blues, it’s a taste of their own medicine. Under the stewardship of Todd Boehly, they’ve made a habit of trumping rivals with audacious eleventh hour bids.
Today, it’s their turn to feel the sting of that, as Liverpool snatch their top target from underneath their noses.
Of course, it isn’t done yet, though. With Chelsea lurking, you can understand why the Reds want to get this boxed off quickly. Get the medical all done, and hopefully we see Moises as a Red later today!
