Jeremy Doku could reportedly join Manchester City despite Liverpool chasing the Stade Rennais winger for the best part of five years.

According to journalist Sacha Tavolieri, the reigning Premier League champions are a concrete option for Doku this summer amid growing interest in the Belgian international this week.

Liverpool have been strongly linked with a move for the 21-year-old with FC Barcelona also chasing Doku, who is a man in demand after an impressive end to the last season’s Ligue 1 campaign.

Reportedly worth as much as £66m, City’s growing interest in Doku could come as a major blow for Liverpool, who have been linked with the winger ever since breaking into R.S.C. Anderlecht’s senior team at as a 16-year-old.

And now, the Manchester giants have emerged as a concrete option for Doku, who could be signed to replace Riyad Mahrez after the winger’s departure to Saudi Arabia earlier this summer.

Doku has been linked with Liverpool for what feels like forever, yet even if the winger ends up at City, the Reds should not feel any bad blood with the player.

As we know, this summer for Liverpool is all about adding to the midfield and improving the defence, with the attack in as good a condition as it has been in years.

Moreover, with Doku’s price tag well above what Liverpool can afford, missing out on the winger won’t feel like a major blow for the Reds, even if the forward ends up at City.
