Aston Villa are now reportedly interested in Stade Rennais winger Jeremy Doku, who has recently been heavily linked with a move to Liverpool.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Unai Emery’s side now have the Belgian international on their list of transfer targets, with Villa’s interest a potential problem for the likes of Liverpool, who have been reported with a move for the Ligue 1 youngster this summer.

Journalist Mohamed Toubache-Ter claimed that the Reds held ‘strong interest’ in the Rennes forward, who could as much as £66m if the French side were looking to offload the winger this window. However, there’s every chance that this figure will be lower than what’s been reported.

Indeed, Liverpool are firmly on the hunt for midfielders and defenders this summer. And whilst Doku might not seem like a reasonable signing, Villa’s interest could now spring Jurgen Klopp’s side into action to bring the Belgian youngster to Anfield.

Doku has been linked with a move to Liverpool since the winger was 16-years-old. Yet this latest update from Romano could now hint towards the attacker moving to Villa Park to play under Emery, a prospect that could be incredibly appealing.

As we know, the Spanish coach took Villa from a potential relegation battle to UEFA Europa Conference League football. And for Doku, much to Liverpool’s dismay, a move to Birmingham to represent Emery’s side could be too good an opportunity to turn down this summer.
