Liverpool can now focus on signing yet another midfielder this summer after Fabinho’s move to Saudi Arabia was all but confirmed last night.

Fabinho is set to move for around £40m and Fabrizio Romano took to social media to say the deal is all but announced now.

That leaves Liverpool with yet another slot to fill in midfield, after Jordan Henderson also moved to the Middle East.

And according to journalist Rudy Galetti, the Reds are now looking to press on with their pursuit of Southampton’s Romeo Lavia.

Lavia is one of the leading targets for the Reds this summer. The likes of Chelsea and Arsenal are also keen but reports have suggested it is Liverpool who lead the race right now.

Signed for just £14m by Southampton, Lavia is expected to cost north of £40m, with the Saints holding out for closer to £50m if they can get it.

Liverpool have already signed both Mac Allister and Szoboszlai this summer but more recruits are needed.

As well as Lavia, the Reds are also keen on Brazilian midfielder Andre. Reports yesterday suggesting a deal could be done for the South American for less than £25m.

RTK’s View: Get Lavia signed now

There’s no time for messing now. Liverpool have got to get this deal done and Romeo Lavia is the ideal signing for the Reds.

Lavia has shown with Southampton how good he is and now the time has come for the Reds to get this deal sealed.

Pay the money, get the contract sorted, and get this one over the line. Fabinho’s exit has left a gaping hole, and Lavia can go some way to filling it.
